Millions of Brits may be entitled to receive compensation for delayed flights

Millions of Britons could be owed hundreds of pounds in compensation for delayed flights.

The European Union introduced a regulation that changed the shape of the airline industry: if your flight from the last 6 years was disrupted (delayed or cancelled, or you were denied boarding or missed your connection flight) causing you to arrive later than 3 hours after the original arrival time, then it is your legal right to receive compensation from the airline. The compensation can be up to £600 per passenger in the form of cash, electronic bank transfer, cheque or travel vouchers.

Thank you for your patience, you may now proceed to compensation.

The disruption must be for a flight from the last 6 years.  The compensation applies to EU regulated flights only (meaning any airline departed from EU airport or EU airline due to land in EU airport).  The flight disruption must be due to an airline issue (eg. no crew, technical fault, no airplane), extraordinary circumstances (eg. bad weather conditions) are not covered.  The compensation will depend on potential distance of travel.

In short, if you’ve flown within the last 6 years and your flight was disrupted (delayed, cancelled, denied boarding), then you may be entitled to receive up £600 per passenger in compensation.
