Yorkie saved minutes before from death

flight uk to usa with puppyMisty, 2 years old Yorkshire Terrier was saved from death on its’ first flight. The situation happened at 18,000 ft after an airplane’s cargo room’s heating system malfunctioned.

The pilot noticed a problem while he prepared to fly the plane over the ocean. As the temperatures in the cargo room may drop well below freezing, the pilot decided to make emergency landing to save a Yorkie.

A german pilot saved Misty minutes before from freezing by landing in Heathrow. The dog was put on another plane and the flight continued to New York. Lucky owner Dorothy Donovan said: “The dog is like my child. It’s everything to me.”

It is estimated that the decision, which delayed the flight by one hour, would have cost the airline around £6000-8000.

Aviation specialist commented: “If you look at the temperature outside at 32,000 ft, it’s approx. minus 55 degrees; there is some insulation but the cargo area will probably still get down to below freezing without any heating.

Airlines representer added: “Passengers’ reaction was positive, particularly once people understood the dog was in potential danger.”
